The Village of Stockbridge Water Utility is regulated by the PSC (Public Service Commission). The Village of Stockbridge is compelled to follow the rules, rates and regulation of the PSC. Residential Rates (which are 5/8” meters) established for the Village of Stockbridge are as follows:
* Public Fire Protection: $51.60 per Quarter
(Note: some communities include this charge in the general mil rate)
* Base General Water Service: $30.00 per Quarter
* Volume Charges are as follows:
- First 10,000 gallons used each month or
- 30,000 gallons used each quarter – $5.60 per 1,000 gallons
- Over 10,000 gallons used each month or
- 30,000 gallons used each quarter – $5.00 per 1,000 gallons
The Village of Stockbridge water rates are quarterly rates, but the Village of Stockbridge received approval to divide the charges into monthly billing. The combined General Water Service and Public Fire Protection charges WITHOUT including volume will be $27.20 per month.
The Village of Stockbridge uses the estimate billing method for billing of volume consumption.
What is Estimate Billing?
Estimating bills is the process of “estimating” bills for the first two months of a regular quarterly meter reading period and compute the bills for the third month at the regular quarterly rates for service deducting the estimated bills for the first two months. The estimation process takes the total water consumption used during the prior year by a customer (for one calendar year) and breaks it down to a daily consumption rate. For instance if a customer used 36,500 gallons in one calendar year, the utility breaks that down into a daily consumption/usage of 100 gallons per day (Take the total prior years consumption (example 36,500) and divided by 365 days). The utility does not charge the full 100 percent of estimated daily usage. Instead the utility will only charge out 70% of the estimated daily usage to ensure the utility does not overestimate. The Utility would charge the daily usage out at 70 gallons per day rather than 100 gallons.
Your meter will be read in March, June, September, and December. The Utility will be reading meters around the 20th of each of the listed months.
The billing rate for the Sewer Utility is a flat $25.00 per month for residential customers. In addition, each month your bill will include a volume charge of $2.00 per 1,000 gallons of water usage. The Village of Stockbridge applies seasonal water rates for the billing months of July, August, and September. Seasonal water usage volume is based on your January thru March reading or the actual reading (whichever is less). This is done to eliminate summer water usage for lawn-watering, etc. that is water not expelled into the sewer system
The Sewer Utility is not PSC regulated. Rates and policies are determined by the Village of Stockbridge Sewer Commission that consists of six appointed Village residents.
Bills are sent out monthly and payments can be mailed directly to the Village of Stockbridge Utilities at PO Box 205, Stockbridge, WI 53088. or payable at the State Bank of Chilton, Stockbridge Branch, PO Box 38, Stockbridge, WI 53088.
Bills are for the prior month and due by the 20th of each month.
The Village of Stockbridge Water and Sewer Utility Commission meets the second Wednesday of each month at the Village of Stockbridge Office (unless otherwise noted). Agendas are posted at the Village office, Stockbridge Post Office, Mud Creek Coffee bulletin board, and viewable online at www.villageofstockbridge.org .
